The U.S. state of Minnesota is best known for having more than 10,000 lakes within its territory, and bordered by the largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior. Naturally, it is also home to the iconinc “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis and state capital Saint Paul. But more importantly, it is home to custom wine cellars that our design team have diligently worked on, together with our Minnesota clients. We have been helping Minnesota residents realize their wine cellar goals over the years and we want to do a lot more!

Minnesota Wine Cellars & Wine Racks
project #309060 - Lake Elmo, MN
The design of this wine cellar is very clean and elegant. You will notice that there are three glass panels framed by wooden doors which allows one to see into the wine cellar on the wall. The wine storage itself is comprised of racking units from our Vintner Series in unstained Premium Redwood. A tasting center with glass rack, as well as another archway on the wall are also incorporated into the assembly. Lastly, crown and base moldings, and center seam trim were also utilized to give this project a beautifully finished look.
We enjoyed the entire design and build process from WCI.~Bill R.~
project #262961 - Andover, MN
"Everything went fine with our wine shelving order. I did not take long at all to get them. We initially bought them to display in one of our model homes which is now open in the Spring Preview Parade of Homes in the the Twin Cities area. I will be ordering a few more of them shortly as we have sold a couple of homes now that want to replicate the same thing. We did add a wood top to the center and also used a couple extra trim pieces to go around solid tops we put on the top of the wine racks too. I put them together myself and figured it out pretty easy. I did use a trim nail gun which I am sure saved a lot of time on installation and made it a lot easier."~Mike G.~
project #274037 - Minetonka, MN
Simple and space-efficient are the defining features of this wine cellar. There is tons of bottle storage, thanks to the Vintner Series Individual Wine Racks. The wood of choice is All-Heart Redwood, dressed up in Classic Mahogany Stain. You can see how the wood showcases a beautiful reddish tint, reminiscent of red wine.
"The wine racks are working out well. I had a contractor assemble them for me and they did use a nail gun." ~Ed G.~
Our client was very happy with the way his wine storage turned out. Our WineMaker Series provided him with these shallow-depth units that fit into the designated space in his home perfectly. The racks were all in unstained Premium Redwood and accommodated our client's entire collection comfortably.
"I am so very happy with my wine racks. They are located under my stairs. My cellar is organized not by estates or regions or even grape varietals. It is organized by the year/vintage. I feel quite emotional drinking a bottle from a particular year that is special to me." ~Cam U.~

Important Questions to Ask Before Creating Your Minnesota Wine Room
How do I convert my basement into a wine cellar?
The basement is the easiest location to work with because environmental conditions therein are closest to the ideal wine storage conditions. But you will still need to prepare the space. In doing so, you will need to insulate the basement and install a vapor barrier. You will also need to build soffits to cover ducting, piping, and other obstructions.
Does a wine cellar need to be cooled?
Any wine cellar no matter the size and location will need a proper wine cellar cooling system. This is to help maintain ideal wine storage conditions 24/7. The type and size of the wine cellar cooling system will depend on several factors. If you are unsure, it is highly recommended to consult with a professional wine cellar design consultant first.
Are glass-enclosed wine cellars expensive?
Here at WCI, we provide lots of options when it comes to wine racks, accessories, and other wine cellar construction needs. We work with the client's budget, but we never compromise on quality. So if the client desires a glass-enclosed wine cellar on a certain budget, we will work to achieve just that.
What stains or finishes can give a contemporary look?
We recommend our Graywash, Opaque White, or Whitewash stain options to achieve a modern vibe to your wine cellar. Our Interactive Swatch Viewer will help you see how a particular wood option will look when dressed up in these stains and finishes.

Abbie B. - #275134
"The wine racks turned out fantastic. WCI was really great to work with and helped with the design of the shelves which was wonderful. The shipping was quick and costs were fair. I highly recommend them."
Suzanne H. - #256075
"We love our wine racking that we purchased from your company. We had bought a new home and moved in and decided to convert the closet in the basement under the stairs into our wine closet. We live in MN so it stays nice and cool in there."
Robert M. - #272826
"My wine rack, assembled and stained, as it now sits in my hall closet "wine cellar". Very easy to assemble with a hammer." Robert M - View photo

When we built our new home, we added this small wine cellar. It works just great for us. We used to try and collect wines but somehow it would end up spoiled. So this time, we have a cooling unit and the room is properly insulated. That said, we don't need a lot of space. For now, we are happy with the two racks we purchased from Wine Cellar Innovations. I imagine at some point in the future, we will put another on the back wall and we can handle an additional one on the right hand wall, above the existing one. Thanks very much. I had no problems assembling the units; I did use a few more nails/brads than suggested, as I was a little bit concerned that it wasn't as strong as I hoped. With the extras, it seems fine." - View More Photos
