Wine Cellar Inspirations: Creating The 300 Bottle Wine Rack

June 30th, 2021

Warm Wednesday greetings, fellow wine enthusiasts! Today, let’s talk about large volume wine storage. In other words, we’ll focus a bit more on commercial wine cellar projects. What kind of racking solutions should you consider for your wine store? Are you starting from scratch, renovating, or just expanding your current set-up? How do you create a 300 bottle wine rack for your merchandise? Let’s explore the many possibilities to achieve your wine storage goals:

Creat 300 bottle wine storage with Vintner Stackables

The Vintner Stackables

First up is the Vintner Stackables. Yes, wine cellar folks! Our super popular Vintner Series also extends to our commercial racking line. In fact, our commercial catalogue is divided into two main collections: Vintner and the Classic collection. The latter is comprised of units that are hand built to order. These customized racks do come at a higher price tag, but definitely worth it. Vintner, on the other hand, is all about mixing quality with affordability. The Vintner Stackables is a prime example. Select from a variety of styles that can be stacked up to 12-feet high. That includes Curved Corner Racks and Adjustable Cabinets. Store not just your wine bottles, but other liquor as well, including beer and soda.

Vintage View Evolution

The Vintage View Evolution

Up next is the Vintage View Evolution series, in particular, the Evolution Wine Wall. The Wine Wall is a modular wine rack system that blends contemporary label-forward design with smart functionality. The units will work with both residential and commercial wine cellar applications.  This stylish system uses steel Wine Rods to hold split, standard, Champagne, Pinot Noir, or magnum bottles all in the same row. The thoughtful design allows for sturdy installation using commercial-strength steel supports into both drywall and wood-backed surfaces. The 5” tall section can alone as a great accent piece to a wet bar. But you can play around with other Wine Wall heights to create storage for 300 bottles of wine or more.

Cable Wine Racking System

The Cable Wine Racking System

As the trend for wine cellars continue to go down the “modern” route, wine establishments are also keeping pace. The Cable Wine Racking System offers high volume storage combined with an attractive contemporary vibe. Cable wine racks can accommodate a variety of bottle shapes and sizes, way more compared to standard units. That means you can store other types of liquor as well and not just wine. For someone who wants to grow a versatile collection, this is the perfect racking system to utilize. ^_^

Technical Tuesday Episode #530: Wine Storage Console W/ Revue Racks

June 29th, 2021

A custom wine storage console is the absolute “in” thing this 2021! The appeal is very understandable. They can be made to suit any space in the home. But they can also be customized to accommodate larger collections in a commercial setup. Today’s Tech Tuesday features a metal x wood combination in a gorgeous glass-encased design:

Project #320049
Series: Custom/Revue Series
Bottle Capacity: 385
Where: N/A

Custom wine storage consoleWe can totally see why clients were so excited to unveil their wine storage console. It was tailored to fit perfectly in the dining area. You can see how seamless the assembly is, particularly between the floor and ceiling. There are no awkward gaps anywhere. Moreover, we like how it serves as a sort of divider, sectioning off the dining room. As can be gleaned from the photos, the bottles are displayed in a beautiful “floating” fashion. This is thanks to the Revue Wall Series:

Wine storage console with Revue SeriesThe Revue Wall Series is composed of wall-mounted wine racks that showcase your bottles in a label-forward manner. The units come in 3-foot and 4-foot options which can be stacked to expand your wine storage. They also come in different depth variations: single, double, and triple deep. This makes it possible to maximize bottle capacity even in a compact space. But while the original design of the racks is for wall-mounting purposes, you can also opt for a floor-to-ceiling layout. This is the configuration that allows for that dramatic, “floating” appearance. This is also the layout that clients chose for their wine storage console:

Beautiful wine storage consoleThere is no big secret to achieving this. All you need to do is purchase a Floor to Ceiling Frame. The frame will make your bottles look like their suspended midair while keeping them completely secure. Note that just like the metal wine racks, the frame also comes in two finishes. Choose from either Silver or Satin Black finish to complete your racking assembly. In clients’ case, they went for the sleek Satin Black Finish. It works well with the glass and wood elements, giving the wine console a bit of a modern touch. *Cheers*

The Things You Can Do With Custom Built Wine Storage

June 24th, 2021

If you’re still debating whether or not to go the custom route for your wine storage, today’s blog will definitely change your mind. The things you can do with custom built wine storage are just incredible. And we’re not just talking about bottle storage capacity. The design opportunities are even more extensive.

The things you can do with custom built wine storage!Check this super stunning wine room. It’s certainly not your usual racking arrangement but the client wanted something different for their collection. Some might say that there is a lot of wasted space with this kind of layout. But that’s not the case at all. Since the racks are all customized, there is a good mix of individual and custom bottle storage. You don’t have to sacrifice form for function and vice-versa. WCI has a bevy of racking styles that can be conveniently combined to accommodate any and all storage needs. We start from the simplest of layouts all the way up to the most extravagant designs. For example, we can expand from the standard individual wine bottle to adding high display reveals. For a fancier look, we can throw in some double displays and cascading wine bottle waterfall.  Bulk storage doesn’t have to be plain either. With custom built units, you can have generous bottle capacity in an attractive setup. Open Diamond Bins can be accentuated with solid face trim for a seamless look.  Concave Racks, Curvy Cubes, and Rotating Wine Cradles will turn racking simple racking arrangements into conversation starters.

Beautiful, custom built racking consoles

Here are some great snaps of the wine room that showcase that “built in” look. This is just one of the many things you can achieve when going custom. There are tons of ways to experiment with various materials and come up with a very unique look for your wine cellar. In this case, notice how this room emulates the feel of European wine caves. We love the tasteful play of textures between the stone and wood elements. Note that the racks were stained to match the ceilings! ^_^

Wine Cellar Inspirations: Creating A 72 Bottle Wine Rack

June 23rd, 2021

Create a 72 bottle wine storage with Curvy CubesNeed more bottle storage for your collection? Thinking of expanding your 24 bottle unit to a 72 bottle wine rack? This is where you’ll appreciate the functionality of stackable racks. This is also where you’ll find out that at WCI, almost all our wine racks are designed to be like that. The stackable feature gives our clients tons of options. This is particularly important because not everyone has enough space for a full-blown wine cellar. Our wine rack kits are, of course, on top of the list. But we also have a few other gems that are worth checking out:

Curvy Wine Cubes

The Curvy Cubes are actually a pretty popular series in the WCI product catalog. But we still need to shine the spotlight on them lest they get overshadowed by the newer collections. To this day, the Curvy Cubes live up to their reputation for fun, unique, and space-efficient wine storage. The units come in concave and convex designs. When stacked, you get a fancy, curvy racking arrangement that will definitely be a conversation starter. Note that the series also comes with a wall mount hardware kit. That means you have the alternative to mount the cubes when space issues calls for it.

Secured Wine Lockers are awesome!

Secure Wine Lockers

Next up are the Secure Wine Lockers. While the lockers seem to be a favorite with commercial wine cellars, it needs more love when it comes to residential projects. The lockers start from one level and go up to five level units that can be easily stacked. With this, you can build your 72 bottle wood wine rack by the column. There is also a wonderful array of options for you to choose from for the door panels. You have the metal lattice for open air circulation. You can also go with the glass panel for a classy appeal. Of course, we also have the regular flat or raised wood panel. The locks can be keyed in numerous configurations, or as one single key. Last but not the least, you have the full selection of wood, stain and finishes available for these lockers.

Acrylic wine racking setup

Acrylic Wine Racks

Wood and metal should not be your exclusive choices for wine storage materials. Take a leap of faith and try out these Acrylic Wine Racks. These acrylic units have actually been around for a while. But it’s time to incorporate them more into wine cellar projects. They offer a unique, minimalist appearance that will give your bottles that magical “floating” look. Acrylic is just as clear as glass and relatively easy to maintain. These are, again, stackable units that can be manipulated to meet your storage needs. So if it’s a 72 bottle rack you need, you can certainly make one and with flair to boot!

Technical Tuesday Episode #529: A Plethora Of Racking Styles

June 22nd, 2021

Versatility is the name of the game here at WCI. Our products were created with the purpose of answering to any and all wine storage needs. That’s why there is a plethora of racking styles offered to clients. But that’s not all that our “versatility” stands for. It’s also about how our wine racks and accessories can be mixed and matched to form endless design possibilities:

Project # 311880
Wood: Premium Redwood

Series: Vintage View / Vintner /Custom
Bottle Capacity: 384
Where: Chicago, IL
Stain: Midnight Black

A plethora of wine racking stylesToday’s Tech Tuesday is a lesson in simplicity and functionality. We definitely need more of these kinds of projects, to be honest! Clients’ compact but well laid out wine cellar is really worth showcasing. It’s a terrific example of how you can combine various racking styles in a small space. You can see the clever use of wall-mount metal units to maximize on bottle storage. The Vintage View Series was the racking of choice here. But take note that there are also other collections you can try out. We recommend checking out the Revue and Ultra Wall collections.

Metal x Wood wine racking combosAs earlier mentioned, WCI is home to a plethora of racking designs. So while this wine cellar is quite simple, it actually boasts of several racking combinations. The wood wine racks are a mix of our custom creations and wine rack kits. In particular, our team went with the Vintner Series for the kits and tied the units up with some customized ones. This would explain why the wood wine storage console is a perfect fit in the space. Notice as well how standard Individual Bottle Columns were prioritized in the racking arrangement. This makes for a pretty generous bottle storage capacity despite the compact space. To complement the Satin Black finish of the metal racks, the wood ones are stained in Midnight Black Stain. The bold hues are in stark contrast with the white walls and make the racks really stand out. *Cheers*

We often hear this question pop up: “Is a custom wine cellar design worth it?” Based on the decades of testimonials of happy and satisfied clients, we can certainly say it is. Today’s Testimonial Thursday showcases another example of what you can get with custom wine cellar design services:

What custom wine cellar services can bring youOne of the most important things to keep in mind is that a custom wine cellar can be designed in any size. Moreover, our experienced consultants will work with you within your desired budget. This stunning wine storage of our client Kalon is a great example. The clients were not looking to build a formal wine cellar. They wanted to have suitable storage space at a price they can afford. But they also wanted the wine storage to suit their home’s aesthetic. They went the custom route and discovered an almost limitless number of options. They learned that wine storage can be anywhere from a small closet transformation to the largest wine room layout. See how their racking assembly even has storage for larger format bottles!

Wine Cellar Inspirations: Wine Storage Options To Know More About

June 16th, 2021

When you’re contemplating on wine storage for your collection, it’s always a good idea to look at more options. Don’t limit yourself to what is “standard” or worse, what’s popular. There are tons of wine storage options to know more about. Here are some of the racking styles we want you guys to explore:

Stackable Scallop Racks

The Scallop Racks have been around for quite a while. But we feel like they deserve more love. These stackable units provide individual wine bottle storage at a very low cost. You will find that assembly is super easy. The racks are put together by interlocking the scalloped crossbars into the end pieces. Note that the scalloped wine racks consists of 2 rows of wine bottle nooks. They come in 18 and 26-bottle configurations, but don’t forget the word “stackable.” That means you can create a 36 bottle wine rack with them. The racks also boast of an attractive, rustic unfinished look and feel.

Redwood Wine Bottle Grids

Next on our list is the Redwood Wine Bottle Grid. So what are the things do you need to know about this rack? First off, this unit is an impressive combination of space-efficiency and affordability. It was designed to focus on maximizing individual wine bottle storage capacity at an economical price point. This sturdy wine rack is manufactured out of popular Premium Redwood. It can hold up to a generous 115 wine bottles in an individual format. Included with this wine rack kit are mounting brackets to secure the unit to the wall. The rack will rest on the floor, but the wall brackets are to ensure it does not tip forward after installation.

Pine Wine Cubes – 36 Bottle

Lots of clients have heard of our Curvy Wine Cubes, but not our Pine Wine Cubes. We feel that must change! These storage cubes are a fun and functional way to store your bottles. They come in 12 and 24 bottle configurations. The 12 bottle wine rack cube is a shallow depth wine rack. That means the necks of your bottles will slightly stick out in an attractive “popping” display. There’s no cause for alarm though, because the bottles are fully supported. Plus, the shorter depth units use less wood making for a friendlier price point. The 24 bottle cube is a full depth wine rack. You can stack the units and come up with a 36 bottle wooden wine rack system.

Technical Tuesday Episode #528: Your Wine Room’s “Wow” Moment

June 15th, 2021

Want to give your wine room that much needed “wow” moment? Today’s Tech Tuesday feature can show you how it’s done. We are blown away by how eye-candy this wine cellar project is. There’s no big secret to it. It’s just all about balancing out the design elements and using quality materials:

Project # 321250
Wood: Custom / Premium Redwood
Bottle Capacity: 3144
Where: N/A

Your wine room’s “wow” moment! So let’s go ahead and check the details of this project. What is the first thing that catches your eye when you look at these photos? For us, it’s definitely the wine tasting island smack at the center of the room. This is actually a customized creation, just like the rest of the racking assembly. Notice how there are individual and bulk bottle storage units incorporated into the island. Apart from the Open Diamond Cubes with Solid Face Trim, there are also individual bottle racks on both ends:

Custom wine tasting islandThis gives us a terrific tip when it comes to giving that “wow” moment. A wine tasting table – or island in clients’ case, can elevate the aesthetic appeal of a wine room. It goes without saying that it also adds more functionality to the cellar. You get a generous space for wine and food prep and lots of extra bottle storage. If you have the space for it, this is an accessory you really should consider. It will never be a wasted investment, especially if you choose the right materials. In clients’ case, they went with Premium Redwood which is a two thumbs-up. Premium Redwood is not only top notch in quality, it is also a frontrunner when it comes to appearance. In fact, some prefer it over All-Heart Redwood because of its lighter pinkish gold to reddish gold hues.

“Wow” moment with this wine tasting islandNow here’s the thing with these tasting tables and islands – you don’t need to go custom if you don’t have the budget for it. WCI’s wine rack kits also carry them, notably Vintner and Designer. They are affordably priced and you still have the ability to customize your wood and stain options. *Cheers*

Build Your Own Home Wine Tasting Center With Winemaker

June 10th, 2021

A home wine tasting center is one of the best alternatives you can have to a formal wine cellar. Not everyone has the budget for a full blown wine cellar. Also, not everyone is ready for the responsibility of maintaining a wine room. But you definitely need proper storage for your wine bottles. A wine tasting center fits the bill perfectly, just like what our clients did here:

Build your home wine tasting center! As you can see, clients have a small collection going. There was also a vacant wall space in their home. It was pretty much a dead section since it was a tad narrow. But that’s what the Winemaker Series is for! These racks are designed with shallow depth making them work extremely well in compact spaces. Winemaker is the Vintner Series equivalent of WCI’s short depth racking units. The racks are highly versatile, manufactured in 3-foot and 4-foot options. These can be stacked to accommodate any ceiling height. And of course, there are a plethora of styles to choose from. One of these is the Individual Tasting Center.

Our clients went with the Individual Tasting Center with Open Diamond Bin model for their home.  This comes with an archway and tabletop option, as well as a glass rack and tabletop combo. The clients wisely chose the glass rack and tabletop option, allowing them space for their wineglasses. Note that the unit also comes with Display Rows. This is a new feature for the Winemaker Series. The Display Rows enable you to  fully showcase your best and/or favorite labels.

Winemaker home wine tasting centerCheck out how the wine tasting center fits so well into this corner. The tabletop is a terrific spot for clients to prep drinks or display their wine accessories for easier access. We also really like how the shorter depth configurations make the bottles pop out. You can see that the necks of the wine bottles stick out, yet, they are nestled comfortably on the racks. This is made possible by the square cut rails that will keep your collection safe and sound. ^_^

“Wine racks are great!”

Clients find happiness in custom wine storageProjects like this stunning racking assembly consistently show why small spaces are not a hindrance to providing proper storage for your wines. We can see from these photos that clients were working with a quite narrow room. They were able to transform it and even found a place to house their collection. They cleverly chose to go with custom wine racks in order to create the right fit for their space. We love how the setup also allowed for a countertop and extra storage at the bottom. The “sliding barn door” inspired shelving is definitely an eye-catching feature:

Custom sliding barn door inspired shelvingWith the help of our professional design experts, clients were able to maximize bottle capacity. This racking assembly can easily host several dozen standard-sized bottles, as well as some larger-format ones. Notice that there is an Open Diamond Cube built below the countertop. This is perfect for keeping those loose bottles. There is even glassware storage as well. This just shows that when you go custom, the design possibilities are endless. But you might also be thinking about the price tag on this beautiful project. Don’t let that scare you! Wine Cellar Inspirations: Exploring “Slim” Wine Storage

June 2nd, 2021

Have you ever heard of “slim” wine storage? How about a narrow wine rack? What comes to mind when you hear this? For those who are not as knowledgeable about wine and wine storage, these terms may seem a bit confusing. How would you be able to store a standard-sized bottle in a slim wine rack? It boggles the mind indeed! But that’s what this blog is all about. It’s not just to showcase WCI’s wine cellar projects. We also enjoy sharing bits and pieces on wine and wine storage for everyone to learn from.

What is slim wine storage?

What is a narrow wine rack?

So let’s get on to the finer details of these so-called “narrow” wine racks. Our best example would be WCI’s WineMaker Series. This collection is akin to our Vintner Series, composed of what we proudly identified as our most versatile wine rack kits. But while Vintner caters full depth bottle storage, WineMaker’s configurations is quite different. The collection is made up of narrow depth units.

What does this mean? Essentially, the racks are created in short depth. That means that the neck of a standard-sized bottle slightly sticks out. Yet, the body of the wine bottle is fully supported within the wine racks. The shorter depth means less wood is utilized in manufacturing them. This makes the racks more affordable. Nonetheless, the security of the bottles are not compromised at all. They rest on sturdy, square cut rails that keep your wines safe and sound. Note that Winemaker units must be mounted 1 1/2″ off the wall to ensure proper wine bottle stability.

Slim Wine Cabinet

Now what about a “slim” wine cabinet? Does WCI carry something like as well? We sure do! If you go check out our Wine Sentinel refrigerated wine cabinets, you’ll see what we mean. Wine Sentinel allows you to customize your wine cabinets to suit your space. That includes customizing the racks to work with compact spaces. Note that these shorter depth racks were designed specifically to accommodate tight spaces. They are perfect for small living areas like condos and apartments. ^_^

Technical Tuesday Episode #527: Glass Enclosed Commercial Wine Storage

June 1st, 2021

Joyful June greetings, wine cellar pals! This is the month where fun in the sun will really start to kick off. Can you smell summer around the corner? We sure can! Best thing about it this year is that things are slowly but surely starting to get better. We can enjoy our wine both indoors and outdoors while still keeping safe. Wine establishments, bars, and restaurants are also getting busier, like today’s Tech Tuesday client. They invested in this stunning glass enclosed wine storage and we’re here to give you guys all the deets:

Project # 316640
Wood: Custom / Vintage View
Bottle Capacity: 3144

Glass enclosed wine storageThere’s nothing like wining and dining while being able to ogle what else? More wine! This is exactly our client’s goal when they commissioned for this glass enclosed creation. The attractive display of their collection will whet their wine-loving patrons’ appetite. At the same time, it will also augment the establishment’s aesthetic appeal.

Stunning glass enclosed wine displayThe clients worked with the WCI professional design team to come up with this classic glass x metal wine storage combo. Metal racking units were indeed a smart choice as they really complement the glass elements. In particular, the Vintage View metal wine racks were chosen for this project. Vintage View has been features countless times in the WCI blog. But the versatility of the product is just incredible. Browse through our photo galleries and you will definitely see what we mean. Each project is wonderfully unique, particularly with the way the Vintage View racks are utilized. Naturally, the telltale features are always present. One, the bottles are securely stored in a label-forward fashion. Two, the racks are either wall-mounted or displayed in a floor-to-ceiling layout. Three, the racks have generous bottle storage capacity as they come in single, double, and triple deep options.

Our clients’ happy patrons! Now as far as the glass enclosed design is concerned, clients went for the classic, frameless style. This certainly suits the vibe of the restaurant and allows for the wines to be put on full display. But keep in mind that you can also play around with other design concepts. That is the great thing with a glass enclosed wine storage. It is very flexible and you can have fun experimenting with it. One of our favorites is adding black metal trim to the glass. This lends it a more modern feel. Another would be to accentuate it with bold LED lighting accessories. *Cheers*
