July 28th, 2020

If you’re debating whether or not to stain your wine racks, this post might just be the one to tilt the scales. This compact wine cellar project showcases the beauty of unstained All Heart Redwood racks. Even with it’s small size, there are lots of impressive details that should not just be glossed over:

Project # 309861
Wood: Custom / All heart Redwood
Bottle Capacity: 556
Where: Newport, KY

Seamless All Heart Redwood racksLet’s start with the bottle storage variety in the racking arrangement. Take note that this is a custom job and it really shows in how seamless the transitions between racking styles are. You can see that apart from the Individual Bottle Columns, there are also High Reveal Displays, Open Diamond Bins and Cubes:

Unstained and beautifulDespite the smaller space, this wine cellar still managed to also include a wine tasting center and generous countertops. This is the advantage of going custom on smaller projects. You will be able to maximize the space and enjoy certain amenities that might not be possible with pre-assembled racks.

Custom unstained All Heart Redwood racksNow let’s talk about the wood and stain options for this project. The client and our design team wisely went with All-Heart Redwood. All-Heart Redwood is our most popular wood choice for custom wine racks. It costs a tad more than Premium Redwood, but it’s durability, resiliency, and appearance are all worth it. All Heart Redwood is the most expensive part of the Redwood tree. It comes exclusively from the center of the log and is consistently in the reddish hues. It is the most resistant to moisture, mildew and rot of all North American trees. That’s why it was used in subterranean wine cellars long before mechanically climate controlled wine cellars were invented.

Clean and elegant layoutThe natural beauty of All Heart Redwood is unmatched. That’s why do not be hesitant to try the unstained version in your wine cellar. Our client did just that and look at the results! The natural pinkish gold hues are so elegant and attractive. You can find more inspiring projects over at the WCI gallery, so do check it out. You will be amazed at how inherently beautiful unstained wood can be. *Cheers*
