Reasons Why You Can’t Say No To WCI Stains And Finishes

November 12th, 2018

A good number of our wine cellar projects feature our racking products with various stains and finishes. We love highlighting these projects for a number of reasons. First, we want to showcase how these stains and finishes can make a wine cellar look really unique. Second, we want to let our clients see how their different style preferences can be accommodated by these stains and finishes. Third and last, we also want to exhibit the difference using our stains and finishes. So here are the reasons why you can’t say no to them:

Eco-friendly water-based stains and finishes

WCI stains and finishes are eco-friendly!

Now this might come as a bit of a surprise to some people. Common knowledge dictates that stains and finishes contain toxic substances that can be harmful to both the environment and the human body. This is quite true – if you’re using oil-based products. That’s because oil-based stains and finishes have high concentration of VOCs ( Volatile Organic Compounds).┬áSome of these VOCs are carcinogenic or neurotoxic. Exposure to high levels of VOCs, especially those that are neurotoxic, is dangerous to one’s health. Since oil-based stains dry or cure slowly, there is prolonged exposure to substantial quantities of VOCs. But not here at WCI! We use only water-based stains, finishes, as well as lacquer. The drying time of these water-borne products is just a fraction compared to the oil-based ones. Plus, they are UV-resistant, odor-free and easy to clean up. You only need soap and water! That means you won’t ever touch paint thinner or other potent solvents. And of course, they contain little to almost no VOCs.

Blended stain option and lacquer

WCI stains and finishes can be customized!

WCI has a fairly healthy selection of stains and finishes. Plus, we also do our best to keep coming up with new additions. Just this year, we added three to the list: Whitewash, Opaque White, and Graywash. But apart from the “standard” options, we also have the “blended stains.” This is a product that lets the clients come up with a really distinct look for their wine racks.┬áThis stain is exactly what the title reflects. WCI can blend any of our current stains together to create something custom for you. We can even take a custom match and match it up. For example, you can request for a swatch with 90% Light Stain and 10% Midnight Black. Or you can do a 50-50, like with Dark Walnut and Midnight Black, for a truly distinct and bold color on your wine cellar.
