Technical Tuesday – New Wine Cellar Installations

September 14th, 2010

I love looking through photo galleries filled with wine cellars. Seeing the bottles laid out, the beautiful lighting hitting the racks, and imagining that the wine cellar was in my house is always a delicious way to spend a few hours minutes on the Internet.  I mean, have you seen our new searchable photo gallery yet? It’s awesome! (We are always adding photos!)

What I really love is the technical details in how these wine cellars are installed and created in people’s homes. I have such a love for those details that I feel compelled to share it all with you! Aren’t you lucky? With thanks to our fabulous installers, we hope you like our technical wine cellar installation roundup.

Custom Premium Redwood unstained

Garrison Creek was looking to have a custom wine cellar installed and went with our Gold Series Custom Wine Racks that is our mid-range selection of wine racks. Our Gold Series package takes all of your needs into consideration and provides a full depth racking with a variety of storage options.  Garrison Creek decided to go with curved corners with true radius wine racks, front wine displays, waterfall racks, and bulk storage for cases.

With beautiful crown molding with JD Crown and base moldings with OG Base, including toe kicks, the whole design is beautiful with unstained Premium Redwood.  Having moldings attached to the wine racks only enhances the finished look of the finished wine room.  The moldings are manufactured up to 6 inch lengths for ease of packing and shipping. This will result in material seams on runs longer than 6 inches but as you can see, once the installation is complete it looks beautiful.  With the wine rack toe kicks installed that also gives you extra protection of not having your wine rest on the floor and provides stability to the entire wine rack starting at ground zero.

While the maximum wine bottle capacity is 1,522 wine bottles throughout the whole wine cellar, each of the racks breaks the options down a little differently. With the champagne bottles, they have a minimum of 3” and max of 3 3/8” for bottle cubicle size. Total bottle storage for single deep wine storage is 599. There are three row high reveal display champagne bottles with a total of 15 for storage. The various solid diamond bins with x interlock trim have a total storage capacity of 526 bottles. Regular wine bottles with a bottle diameter of 2 9/16” to 3 1/8” have a storage capacity of 115. Fully there are three row high reveal for wine bottle display with a total capacity of 5 bottles.
