Important Questions to Ask Before Creating Your Washington, DC Wine Storage Room
How do I go about converting the basement into a wine cellar?
We love working with basement conversions because it's using natural resources to keep the wine cool! It might need a little help with a cooling unit, so it's best to prepare the space in case you do use that option. Insulating the basement and then installing a vapor barrier is the best way. You will also need to build soffits to cover ducting, piping, and other obstructions.
What are some of the best wood options for custom wine racks?
Our top recommendations for wood options for custom wine racking units are: Redwood, Rustic Pine, and Grand Mahogany. There are two Redwood species that you can check out: All-Heart Redwood and Premium Redwood. Both are part of the SFI-Certification program which provides customers with assurance that the redwood you purchase from Wine Cellar Innovations has been harvested in an environmentally sound manner.
What types of racks are best for compact spaces?
Small wine racks and wall-mount ones are great storage solutions for compact spaces. Our Mini Stack Series and Vintage View Series are highly recommended for such storage situations. But for those who still prefer standard racking, we also have shallow-depth units which can work wonderfully with smaller spaces. Check out the WineMaker and Traditional Series from our wine rack kits!
Can you customize wine cabinets for wine storage?
You certainly can, especially with our Wine Sentinel. Our Wine Sentinel custom refrigerated wine cabinets are compact yet spacious solutions that can provide generous bottle storage for your collection. You can have the cabinets built to match any space and customize everything from the doors to the wine racks, lighting accessories, moldings, and other accents.
