Technical Tuesday Episode #438: The Beauty Of A Custom Glass-Enclosed Cellar

August 6th, 2019

A glass-enclosed wine cellar is a surefire attention-grabber. But what’s even better if it’s a custom one! Today’s Tech Tuesday shows us just how it’s done: the beauty of a custom glass-enclosed wine storage. This gorgeous creation may be compact in terms of floor area, but it is very generous in all other aspects:

Project # 313624
Wood: Custom / Premium Redwood
Bottle Capacity: 818
Where: Cincinnati, OH

The beauty of custom glass-enclosed wine storageOne of the easiest things to notice about this wine cellar is the versatile racking arrangement. Check out the bottle storage styles that have been incorporated into this limited space. You have the Individual Column Racks with High Reveal Displays, Curved Corner Racks, and Rectangular Bins. A beautiful archway with tabletop is the focal point of the layout, with Open Diamond Bins At the bottom offering more storage. Notice how the racking flows seamlessly to wrap around the room. We love how the Curved Corner Racks give the assembly a bit of a dramatic touch:

Elegant and versatile racking assemblyNaturally, the glass panels are responsible for giving this wine cellar that eye-catching charm. Thanks to the glass-enclosed set-up, the racks are highlighted, really giving them the spotlight. We love the classic combination of Premium Redwood x Dark Walnut for this project. Premium Redwood has natural pinkish gold colors and uniform grain patterns that look even more stunning when stained. Since Dark Walnut deepens the natural hues of the wood, the racks sport a luxurious look worthy of a custom job.

Now as far as custom glass-enclosed wine cellars are concerned, keep in mind that you can also play around with the design of the glass panels. For example, you can have etchings on the glass customized to your liking. You can also choose to do painted glass if that is something that appeals to your style preference. Another great design tip would be to accent your glass panels with black metal trim. It will give your wine cellar a cool, contemporary vibe while retaining that elegant appeal.
