Wine Cellar Inspirations: Casual And Cozy Feel To Your Wine Cellar

April 10th, 2019

Do you want your wine cellar to also be a spot for hanging out with family and friends? Like having a pre-dinner drink or two in an informal, low-key gathering? Or just having a place to chill and chat during a slow weekend. In that case, your wine cellar needs to have a welcoming ambiance. We’re talking about that casual and cozy feel that will really ease your guests into great convos. If that’s the atmosphere you’re aiming for, here are some concepts to try out:

Consider a wine tasting station

Consider putting a wine tasting station…

A tasting area in your wine cellar will make for a terrific spot to gather and talk. If you have a generous amount of space, also consider putting in a peninsula. You can combine this with Wine Bottle Waterfall racking units. Then, you can add some bar stools, just like in your kitchen island. But if you have a more compact space to work with, a tasting table will work. Check out our Wine Barrel Table as well as 108-Bottle Tasting Table from our Vintner Series. For medium-sized wine cellars, we recommend putting in a countertop. This can serve multiple purposes. You can use it as a prep station, a wet bar, as well as a place to serve some yummy tidbits.

Set a warm and inviting mood with lighting accents…

The right lighting accessories can really change the mood of your wine cellar. If you’re going for a warm and inviting atmosphere, low profile IC Can Downlights or recessed LED Downlights can give you that. They are eco-friendly and will help highlight your wine collection as well. If you have some stained glass or other similar decorative applications, then try some fluorescent slimlites. They will enhance the stained glass artwork and make the colors really pop. That will help set a happy and welcoming tone that your guests will love.

Choose muted and/or earthy palettes…

Since you want a casual and cozy aura, it’s best to stuck to muted or earthy shades in your wine cellar. For example, you can go for unstained wine racks or staining them with lighter colors. Our picks are our Light Danish Stain and Classic Mahogany Stain options. But we also recommend trying out the Whitewash and Opaque Stain. The “white” finish will give your wine cellar that warm, cottage-like feel. You can also go for the Gray Wash Stain which combines traditional and modern touches. ^_^
