Technical Tuesday Episode #335: Wine Sentinel Cabinet With Platinum Racks

May 30th, 2017

It’s been quite a while, but we’re so happy to be able to feature our custom refrigerated wine cabinets once again. Our team completed this elegant wine cabinet for a client in Richmond, VA and it showcases all the right things about our Wine Sentinel:

Project # 280130
Wood: Platinum / Premium Redwood
Bottle Capacity: 340
Where: Richmond, VA

The Wine Sentinel

The Wine Sentinel is one of the best solutions (if not the best!) you can have when a formal wine cellar is just not feasible in your home. WCI offers this amazing custom refrigerated wine cabinet in a complete package pricing, with all the bells and whistles you’ll need to properly store your collection. In this particular project, you’ll notice that the cabinet was fully customized to suit the available space, bottle storage needs, and style preference of the client. Check out how the cabinet was perfectly measured to fit snugly into the narrow wall space:

Dark Walnut stained cabinet

The inside racking configuration is all from the Platinum Series. There’s ample space for individual bottles, bulk bottles, including wine boxes and crates thanks to the Rectangular Bins, and even storage for magnums, large champagne, and other larger-format bottles. Since the Wine Sentinel is a fully customizable unit, that goes for all the inside racking as well. You are at liberty to choose your racking units, the style, design, and so on. There’s an assortment of wood, stain, and finish options available for this purpose and in case of doubt, our experienced design consultants are always just an e-mail or phone call away to help you.

Now for this project, the client chose to go with Dark Walnut Stain option and a Distressed Finish. The effect on the wood is a gorgeous, classy appearance that’s very “antique” and reminiscent of “old-country.” Note that it takes quite a bit of work to achieve this kind of finish, owing to its unique properties. The wood is strategically gouged, dented and scratch to give it the character of an old used pieces of furniture. Then a dark coats is wiped on to fill in the gouges, dents and scratches to highlight them. Then a medium dark background coat is applied then finished off with a lacquer finish. Speaking of lacquer, this was also applied to the wood elements in the cabinet for a glossy finish that really showcases the grain patterns of Premium Redwood:

Beautiful French Door entry

Last but certainly not the least, we’d like to point out on two other customized features in the Wine Sentinel: the French Door entry and custom crown and base moldings. These definitely add a touch of sophistication to the cabinet and the moldings help make everything look really seamless and built-in. *Cheers*
