Technical Tuesday Episode #128: Regal Moments With Premium Redwood In Dark Walnut Stain

April 9th, 2013

“Wine is sunlight held together by water.”

How are you doing, wine cellar buddies? We hope you guys are having an awesome start to your week. We’re going to do our best to make things even better with this very unique Tech Tuesday episode:

What: Residential Wine Cellar
Project #: 222840
Wood: Gold/Vintner/Premium Redwood
Maximum Capacity: 1104
Where: Johns Creek, GA

What do you guys think of this handsome-looking wine cellar project? Doesn’t it look very spacious and accommodating? Our design specialists are pretty proud of this one as well. It’s a wonderful combination of the Gold custom wine racks and the Vintner Series wine rack kit. While the layout may appear to be deceptively simple, you will witness from the succeeding images just how versatile the wine racking assembly really is.
Check out the interesting combination of materials we have here. Wooden individual and bulk bottle storage racks are set against brick walls for an aesthetically distinct look. The Diamond Bins with Face Trim add a nice, stylish touch, together with the custom moldings.
And do you guys like the deeper, richer color of the wine racks? More than half of the time, we feature projects sporting either classic stain and finish options or unstained racks. But from time to time, we also get something like this – a bold, regal finish to the wine racking system. It’s a refreshing change and the darker hues make a beautiful contrast to the white-washed appearance of the brick interior. What was actually used here was Dark Walnut Stain on Premium Redwood.
Now it’s good to keep in mind that with these custom wood choices for wine cellar projects, darker stains and finishes actually make their grain patterns appear more prominent. These grain patterns are responsible for giving the wood a dramatic appearance and you can play around with various looks by accentuating them with different stains and finishes. For example, you can see how Dark Walnut stain gives the wine racks in this project a more defined charm.
Here’s an innovation we absolutely love in this feature! See how the Vintner Series Quarter Round Shelf Cabinet was mixed and matched with individual column bottle storage racks to create a super unique racking system.  You can use the cabinet to display your best vintages to full advantage as well as some of your exquisite glassware and other wine accessories. Then, you can store your favorite reds or whites, or a combination of both in the individual bottle racks for easy access, especially during impromptu wine tasting events. This is a great way to organize your wine cellar and speaking of which, we did a fun How To Wednesday on this topic last week that you ought to check out if you missed it.
We also loved how the flooring design worked so well with the entire racking set-up. Speaking of wine cellar floors, you might want to check out our extensive selection of custom wine cellar flooring which includes eco-friendly choices such as Cork  and Vintage Wine Barrel floors. They’ll be perfect for the spring season as you celebrate Mother Nature slowly coming into full bloom!
We hoped you had a great time again this Tech Tuesday. You can learn more about the products used in this feature by taking a tour of the WCI Video Galleries. Also look up our weekly specials because we’re having an awesome spring sale for most of these wine rack kits up to a whopping 40% off! Have a super, wine-filled week ahead, wine buddies! *Cheers*
