All-Heart Redwood comes from the center of the tree and is characterized by a deep, rich reddish brown color and a dramatic grain. The heart has natural beauty and texture without a finish and over time the appearance improves as it takes on a deeper luster. Most other woods need stain and finishes to bring out their character. All-heart Redwood is naturally resistant to rot and mildew which has made it the wood of choice for fine wine cellars for over a century. Redwood unlike cedar has no aroma that can invade the wine through the cork.
Premium Clear Redwood has a variety of colors from white to pink to dark purple swirled and streaked together. Many customers find this exotic color variation adds character to their wine cellar. Although it lacks the resistance to decay possessed by all-heart, Premium Clear Redwood functions admirably in climatically controlled wine cellars, which maintain the desired humidity levels of 50 to 75 percent. Premium Clear Redwood is also beautiful without the need for a finish and is non-aromatic.
