Wine Cellar Roundup – Episode #45

July 29th, 2011 by

The wine world sobbed this week after learning that a fork lift shattered over one million dollars of Mollydooker Shiraz. It makes me a little sick to my stomach, too!

Last week, many wine bloggers attended the Wine Blogger Conference of 2011 in Virginia. Here is an extremely honest write-up of how one of the attendees felt. I think the comments are very courteous and subdued and offer some other balanced thoughts on the conference. If you are interested in going to future wine conferences, you may want to read it to see how others experiences may vary.

Top 10 wine (and food) blogger tips from the conference. There were two main keynote speakers at the WBC2011 conference and for another review of what their tips were… read it! Wine Cellar Roundup – Episode #45

The top 10 hotels in Portugal for wine lovers got me hooked. I love seeing hotel photos and beautiful places I want to visit. It never gets old.

Wine matches beer in the US preferences for drink again! It makes me happy that the younger generation is starting to prefer wine now!

This happened last week but I just had to ‘aww’. A puppy got curious and stuck it’s head through a wine rack and got stuck! The rescue service attempted to use oil as a lubricant to free the puppy but in the end… they had to cut the wine rack up. I’m glad to hear the pup is okay!

Adding Just The Right Touch To Your Wine Cellars – Part I

July 28th, 2011 by

It’s always a constant struggle to find creative ways to innovate and update the look of your wine cellar. Like any part of your home, the wine cellar would also experience the ordinary wear and tear as time passes by and even more so if it’s a commercial wine cellar we’re talking about. However, the cost of a full upgrade would really place one in a financial bind and this is why we always try to come up with ways to make building dream wine cellars feasible aesthetically and of course, financially as well.

“Arch” of Triumph

Adding Just The Right Touch To Your Wine Cellars Part INow the first thing we want you to be enlightened on is that there are some traditional wine cellar fixtures that can bring about wondrous changes with a little bit of twist and flair. Case in point: Wine Cellar Archways.

A wine cellar archway adds that touch of undisputed elegance to your wine cellar, actually making it a focal point in the room. But what you may not be aware of is that there are several ways to redefine the look of your wine cellar just by amplifying the look of your wine cellar archway. How so?

Let’s try understanding the purpose of the archway in a wine cellar room. It is there to provide a structural balance to the wine racking system and establish a dominant area that is supposed to be the focus of your new home fashion icon. Thus, accentuating the archway with the right elements is essential, namely: wine cellar art, lighting, and tabletops and countertops.

The “Art” in the “Arch”

Adding Just The Right Touch To Your Wine Cellars Part IWe provide wine lovers with absolutely eye-catching pieces of wine cellar art that they can change around to suit the mood and theme of their wine cellar. Technical Tuesday – Episode #45: All Heart Redwood With Cork Flooring

July 26th, 2011 by

We like things that are warm and shiny.

Today’s wine cellar gives us just that — warmth brought about by the effect of LED lights, and shiny new All Heart Redwood wine racks. At first look, this wine cellar is absolutely warm and inviting, and we can just imagine how much more inviting it will be once it’s all stocked up with heavenly bottles of wine. We hope to have new photos to show you that soon!

Before we proceed, we’d like to ask how you liked last week’s rustic wine cellar? Did you like the stone brick facade? Between that and today’s glass panel door as entryway, which one do you prefer?

What: Residential Wine Cellar
Project #: 207644
Wood: All Heart Redwood
Maximum Capacity: 1,474
Where: Chagrin Falls, OH

Technical Tuesday – Episode #45: All Heart Redwood With Cork Flooring

Many times in our blog posts we have mentioned the benefits of having a wine cellar custom built, and one of those benefits is being able to tailor the design to your available space. Well,  this residential wine cellar shows us how a not-so-big space can be turned into a beautiful wine cellar. What you see here are wine racks from Wine Cellar Innovations’ popular Platinum Series, which has been the top choice of wine lovers these past few months.

Technical Tuesday – Episode #45: All Heart Redwood With Cork Flooring

We say “top choice” because if you review our previous Technical Tuesday posts, majority of our clients picked the Platinum Series. Not surprising at all, because All Heart Redwood, which is what the wine racks from these series are made of, is the best wood for a wine cellar. Stained or not, it simply looks amazing, and it’s built to last a lifetime too!

Aside from the wood, we’re loving the smooth 90-degree angles in this wine room. It’s got fabulous individual display storage, open vertical display bins and open diamond bins. The LED lights are strategically placed to highlight certain areas of the wine display. The lights do a great job of evoking warmth, don’t they?

This wine room may not look that big, but it can store over a thousand wine bottles! We’re loving the excellent use of space and choice of wine racks. It may not have the standard archways of most wine cellars, but it’s got a few surprises of its own.

Technical Tuesday – Episode #45: All Heart Redwood With Cork Flooring

First of all, it’s got cork floors (yes, that’s cork!) and the ceiling is made of wine barrels! Cork and wine barrel options for are available for the eco-friendly wine lover, and we’re happy to see  that both of these materials have been used and turned out beautifully in this wine room. Know more about greening your wine cellar and maybe you or someone you know who’s building a wine cellar soon can implement them!

Thanks to lacquer, we’re also loving the smooth, shiny table tops in this wine cellar, giving it a touch of class and elegance. All in all, the strength of this wine cellar lies in its excellent choice of wood and use of eco-friendly cork and wine barrels. This wine room may not have some fancy artwork, but it looks great. In fact, the entire room IS an artwork. With such warmth and simplicity, it definitely gets two thumbs up for beauty.
